Getting Started

Getting Started

This guide walks you through adding ServerMate and getting your first features working.

Prerequisites

Step 1: Invite the bot

  1. Open the ServerMate invite link (opens in a new tab)
  2. Choose your server and authorize the requested permissions
  3. In Discord, drag the ServerMate role above roles the bot must assign (moderator, verified, muted, etc.)

Step 2: Open the dashboard

  1. Go to servermate.gg (opens in a new tab) and sign in with Discord
  2. Select your server from My Servers
  3. You land on the server Overview tab

Step 3: Enable features

ServerMate uses three layers — see Help — how setup works for the full picture:

  1. Feature Centre — Turn features on (Moderation, Creator Alerts, etc.)
  2. Feature settings — Configure each feature (log channels, creators, linked game servers, …)
  3. Commands tab — Enable the slash commands you want in Discord
  4. Settings → Permissions — Choose who can use the dashboard and who can run each command

Order matters: a command will not work until its parent feature is enabled and the command is turned on.

Step 4: Set up logging (recommended)

For moderation and verification:

/setmodlog channel:#mod-logs
/setverifylog channel:#verification-logs

Run these in Discord (after enabling the commands on the Commands tab), or configure channels from the feature panels in the dashboard.

Step 5: Test

Try /help in your server for a live command and feature list, or test moderation commands once Moderation is enabled:

/warn @user Breaking server rules
/kick @user Reason: Spamming
